QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree required in engineering, science or another technical or related field; advanced degrees advantageous

  • Several years work experience in a blue-chip or start up environment within pharma, financial services, high tech, engineering, aerospace, media, telecommunications, FMCG or the public sector 

  • Previous experience in a technology/ IT strategy related role combined with expertise in areas such as digital strategy/ transformation, IT infrastructure & architecture, IoT, e-commerce, AI/machine learning, robotics, cloud, big data and analytics, cyber security

  • Combination of strategic and analytical insights with a passion for technology

  • Excellent track record of academic and managerial or professional achievement   

  • Proven experience of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities

  • Fluency in English and Dutch (both a must)

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You'll work as part of our Digital McKinsey team in Amsterdam. Digital McKinsey helps enterprises think strategically about how to leverage technology to create fundamental business change – from formulating tech-driven growth strategies to enabling more efficient operations through the use of technology.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will work with C-suite executives and senior managers, problem-solve on key issues as well as provide actionable recommendations leveraging your technological know-how and business sense.

You will play an active role in all aspects of a client project, typically working in teams of 3-5 consultants alongside experts and colleagues of all tenures, including developers, designers, data engineers, agile coaches and others.

This includes gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing and communicating recommendations for client presentations. You’ll also have the opportunity to present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. 

Our consultants receive exceptional training as well as frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues on their teams. This support includes a Partner from your local office or practice assigned to you to help guide your career as well as up to five weeks of formal training in your first two years as an Associate. Additionally, you'll receive guidance and support from your local office or practice in the selection of client projects, helping you to develop your skills and build your network.

You will be based in one of our offices in Europe as part of the engineering team. You will be developing PlanetView, a software as a service solution which helps the financial sector understand and manage climate change risks. You will work alongside our physical and transitionrisk modeling teams, following agile processes, to bring new datasets, analytical approaches and features to production. We work with financial data, terabytes of global climate data and a wide range of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) data and integrate them in our class-leading advanced economic models.

You will be based in our Amsterdam office as part of our Chemical practice. 

Our Chemical practice focuses on serving petrochemical and specialty chemicals clients, helping them create “Change that Matters” by leveraging artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to unlock sustainable growth and operational excellence. More recently, addressing environmental challenges has emerged as a key Industry priority and sustainability transition has become a distinctive element of our client service offering.

You will be part of our Chemical Insights team. Our Chemical Insights team has developed a unique value proposition in the chemical industry, providing supply and demand perspectives for 50+ bulk chemicals, polymers and feedstocks and forward looking views on critical chemical value chains, reflecting the current outlook and uncertainties. Its last offspring, CI Circular, is a Solution providing the latest insights on plastic recycling challenges (the waste production & recycled volume flows, the recycling economics, the CO2 footprint).

Our CI Circular client base includes plastic producers but also FMCG, packaging and recycling companies as well as private investors with a green focus.
